No VAT refund for tourists. We bought stuff from the shop and the staff said the VAT refund slip printing machine was down. He chopped a red stamp "VAT Export" on the receipt and said the airport VAT refund counter would accept that. I didn't quite think so because we've done VAT refunds numerous times in many different airports but since he said so I just went with it. We were at Heathrow VAT refund counter and the officer said it's not acceptable. They need a proper VAT refund slip which must be signed by the store staff. I emailed ASICS and 2 weeks later the customer service staff replied that "normally with the stamp I can request with no problems" and refuse to refund me. Any logical person would know that a stamp would be insufficient because anybody can make their own stamp. If a stamp is sufficient, why would they require store staff to sign on slip and customers to present passport at store? But yet the ASICS customer officer insists it's acceptable even after I said the airport VAT counter has rejected. Did she even verify at all or did she just assume I was talking nonsense?
Excellent value and extremely helpful staff. I had a test for my high arches. Bought a pair which nomally cost 140 for 89 less 25% bought trail shoes less than 1/2 price for 40.
