The Archive includes an unparalleled collection of powerwoven designs by Herbert Woodman, Bertrand Whittaker, Alec Hunter, Marianne Straub and Frank Davies; trials and experiments for Jacquard and dobby cloths; Coronation and other royal fabrics.
Fascinating Museum in Braintree Town Centre dedicated to the work of Warners who famously made the robes for the Queens Coronation. Family connection for me as my Grandfather and several of his brothers and cousins worked there which adds to the interest. Well worth a visit to see the numerous designs created over the years as well as learning the history of the place
Hidden gem. Well worth a visit, both to view the museum/exhibition displays as well as to attend one of a wide range of workshops. Very friendly staff. Gift shop is worth a visit in itself - extraordinary range of stunning items. Beautiful greeting cards.
If you're interested in the history of Braintree it's worth a visit though opening times are very limited.
